MIRANDA IS GOING TO BEJING

Miranda competed in the US Paralympics Swimming Trials from April 3 - 5 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Miranda went to Minnesota with the goal of qualifying for the US Paralympic Team.  She leaves Minnesota, not just as a qualifier, but as one of the premiere swimmers representing the United States.  She will be contending for a medal in every race in Bejing.  To make the Paralympic Team, world rankings are what is most important.  Miranda improved her world rankings to second in the 400 and 100 Free, third in the 50 Free, fourth in the 200 IM, fifth in the 100 Breast and 50 Fly, and seventh in the 100 Back.

Miranda went best times in all seven events.  Set American Records in 4 events (200 Free, 400 Free, 50 Back, 100 Back).  She took gold in six events, 50 Free, 100 Free, 400 Free, 100 Back, 50 Fly, and 200 IM.  She is the silver medalist in the 100 Breast.

All these accomplishments are a result of Miranda's positive attitude and her willingness to challenge herself in practice.  Miranda has dramatically imporved her practice performance over the last 4 months, and her effort has paid off.  Please take the time to congratulate her when you see her on deck.  Further, give her some words of encouragement because, with the 2008 Paralympics in September, she will be challenging herself even more in practice over the next 5 months.
