GATOR SWIM CLUB STARTS THE LONG COURSE SEASON IN SARASOTA

The Senior I group travelled to Sarasota, FL for the first long course meet of the year January 18th through the 20th.  After doing an good job of training over the holidays, we went to Sarasota for an early season check up.  We had many positive surprises.  Many athletes went lifetime best times in at least one event, and a handful went best times in multiple events.  Overall, the group of athletes that travelled to Sarasota took a good first step to their long course season in the pool.  The aspect that I was most proud of was the athletes team attitude.  Everyone was very supportive of each other and kept a very positive attitude even as the weather turned cold on Sunday.  I enjoyed the way the athletes cheered for each other, and stayed through the entire session to support their teammates.  This group of athletes should be very proud of themselves for the way they swam, and for being good teammates.

Looking forward we have a group of athletes going to Columbia, MO for a Grand Prix meet and some going to Orlando for a short course meet at Trinity Prep.  We then enter championship season with Senior Champs and Sectionals.  As we progress through the season, we will expect to continue to improve our performance in the pool.  Further, I am very excited to see this group of athletes continue to develop a positive attitude, grow as a team, and become excellent teammates for each other.
